Launch of Summer Triathlon Series
The start of summer means the start of race season for Minnesotas endurance athletes. OptumHealth Performance, a coaching and training service for athletes with a state-of-the-art facility in Eden Prairie, recently launched its first-ever summer triathlon series designed to provide athletes of all levels with opportunities to participate for fun, competition and better health. OptumHealth Performance will host events throughout the summer that give athletes from novice to elite levels the chance to compete whether they are competing in their first triathlon or aiming to improve their time from race to race. As part of the summer triathlon series, OptumHealth Performance invites triathlon participants and the public to its Eden Prairie facility for an open house with food and beverages, prizes, and a tour and overview of the OptumHealth Performance Center. Attendees will meet triathlon coaches and have an opportunity to ask training questions. The Summer Triathlon Events presented by OptumHealth Performance include: Manitou Triathlon Sunday June 12, 2011 Ramsey County Beach in White Bear Lake. Recently voted the best run course by MN Tri News, this event is in its 22nd year and is a good option for competitors just getting into the world of triathlons or for experts to start their season. MinneMan Saturday July 2, 2011 Lake George Regional Park in Oak Grove. This race combines distances and conditions to suit beginner athletes with a field size that makes it challenging for advanced racers. Twin Cities Triathlon Sunday July 24, 2011 Harriet Island in Saint Paul. The first year for this urban race, athletes can swim, bike and run in and around the Mississippi River while enjoying the picturesque Saint Paul skyline. The Summer Triathlon Series Open House is Saturday, June 18, from 6 – 9 p.m. at the OptumHealth Performance Center, 6545 Flying Cloud Drive, Eden Prairie, Minn. The public is invited to attend.
