Bicyclist Wayne Miner sets healthy example in ‘Do as I Say AND as I Do’ series
Wayne Miner of Dewitt
Age: “Guess. It’s a game I play, and the answer is rarely correct. I attribute it to good luck (genes) and a healthy lifestyle.”
Who he is: An avid cyclist, president of the Onondaga Cycling Club.
What he believes: “‘The meaning of life is found in relationship.’ This is true in your personal life, your business life and in the relationship you have with yourself.”
What he eats: “A lot. It’s one of the many reasons I enjoy cycling, as it burns a lot of calories.
“I try to eat healthy (whole grains, fruit, veggies, low sugar and fat) and several (four) meals or snacks a day.”
What he does for exercise: Cycling: racing, riding for fun, riding hard. Also, weights, occasional yoga, spinning and running on a treadmill when the weather is really foul, and occasionally hitting the pool.
“Every winter I say I’m going to take up cross-country skiing, but this will definitely be the year… maybe.”
One challenge: “Like all of us, an ongoing challenge is finding time to get everything done. Like most, my approach to the challenge is to set some goals and priorities; do what you can and recognize when you need to shift gears and direction; reassess and start the cycle all over again.”
