5K race in DeWitt honors veteran newsman, Jerry Barsha
Four sisters are starting a 5K “They Can’t Stop Me” run/walk in memory of their father, Jerry Barsha who died last year at the age of 83. It takes place at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 25 along the Erie Canal in DeWitt.
Register for $25 online by 8 p.m. Sept. 24 at www.theycantstopme.org, or on race day from 6:45 to 8:15 a.m. behind the DeWitt Town Clerk’s Office at 5400 Butternut Road. Those who raise $100 for the Jerry Barsha Memorial Foundation will receive a cap.
Debra Barsha, of Somers, will walk with her mother, Martha, Jerry’s wife of 51 years. Sisters Janice, of Boston, Cindy, of Miami, and Amy, of Fayetteville will participate in the run.
Jerry Barsha spent 32 years in radio and television reporting in Central New York.
